[ This was not the first time korra had slipped her way into somewhere she wasn't supposed to be. of course, no one actually said she wasn't allowed in this battle when she traveled over with the mages and soldiers, but korra wasn't naive enough to think her promise to temperance would go unnoticed by the emperor for long. she was already on their bad side given how she'd pressed for answers regarding temperance before — and the way she had called their bluff regarding the fact that they threatened but held no immediate danger to the otherworlders in their faction.
in her defense, the emperor could try to be a little more accommodating to those scared in this new world. but that's neither here nor there.
she finds herself in moon territory just outside the temple and breaks from the formation to find the rebels. last month she had asked that temperance not kill anyone during their disruption and the answer the goddess had given korra was not at all a comfort. if that was the way she was going to be, korra would have to be more hands-on with this whole "gaining temperance's trust" thing, and the "making sure she didn't kill anyone, no matter how seemingly insignificant" thing.
so korra puts her hands into the fray helping the rising sun escort civilians out of the war zone, healing those she could and setting children and younglings on naga's back to run them more quickly from harm's way. always naga returned to her, all bright eyes and wagging tails.
loki finds korra in the camp, naga at her back, and a glowing orb of cyan water in her hands. the conversation she's having with the rebel she's healing is shallow but it's meant to keep her attention off the possibility of a wrecked limb and onto how much better she was already feeling with that cool water at her side. when loki makes herself known, several rebels scramble to their feet, angry that someone had managed to walk past their security detail and ready to fight her off with force if necessary. the young avatar doesn't answer loki, doesn't spare her more than a passing glance until she's absolutely sure this rebel's arm is completely healed.
naga's head lifts as korra gets to her feet, telling the rebels around her to stand down. the woman's face doesn't look familiar and while korra isn't on personal terms with everyone in stars, she likes to think she has a good read on every face she's seen there. the look she gives loki is guarded, laced with suspicion, but that doesn't stop her from walking around the campfire to address the other woman.
savior, please, one of the rebels hisses. this could be a trap, but this was a thought korra had already entertained. she sees unalaq, her uncle, telling her to open the south pole's spirit portal with the sole purpose of distracting her from the north's invasion. ]
